Dear Wagnerians;

 The Toronto Wagner Society has  recently learned that six performances of Die Walküre will take place  beginning on June 5 th at the Maclab Theatre –  Citadel Theatre in Edmonton   The production is directed by the Edmonton Opera’s Artistic Director Joel Ivany and will mark the conducting debut of Russell Braun.

The cast features Scott Rumble (Siegmund), Anna Pompeeva (Sieglinde), Jaclyn Grossman (Brünnhilde), Neil Craighead (Wotan),Catherine Daniel (Fricka), Giles Tomkins (Hunding), Leila Kirves (Waltraute), Hannah Crawford (Helmwige), and Rachael McAuley (Rossweisse.)

According to Edmonton Opera’s website, this production “embark(s) on the next chapter of Wagner’s monumental Ring Cycle with Die Walküre continuing the saga introduced in Das Rheingold. This new production, arranged by Jonathan Dove, pushes the boundaries of opera, reaching new heights of operatic innovation in Edmonton. “
