Today, July 25th 2018, is the first day of the 2018 Bayreuth Festival.

This year’s Festival opens with a performance of Lohengrin.  This is a new production directed by Yuval Sharon and conducted by the Festival’s Music Director, Christian Thielemann.  The production stars Piotr Beczała as Lohengrin, Anja Harteros as Elsa, Waltraud Meier as Ortrud, and Tomasz Konieczny as Friedrich von Telramund.

Members will remember Mr. Konieczny was a guest of the Society last season.
